I more than suspect that Kallas is driven, shaped by her visceral anti-communism/Russophbia, a product of 70 years of Cold War propaganda, so much so that she doesn't think, she reacts like some demented robot on speed, drunk on the power she's been given without a clue how to use it. And she's not alone, the entire nomenklatura of the EU is a bureaucracy whose only purpose is preserving its own existence, thus reasons have to be invented, enemies created. This is how empires die.

”Europe today practices a diplomacy that delivers no outcomes. Policies are not designed to protect interests, but rather scripted to signal virtue or hopeless transatlantic loyalty.”

This brief statement illustrates a dog's tail wagging vigorously until the dog turns to bite its own tail. This serves as a metaphor for contemporary geopolitics, which often deflects attention to other matters. It is hoped that these matters will ultimately benefit the public, as millions of individuals are experiencing extreme hardships while countless others live in urgent poverty.

Right, Callas is a real war hawk. That´s why she was installed as leader of EU foreign affairs. And that´s what all leaders of the EU and Nato on different levels are installed . She represents Estonia which, like the other Baltic countries pursues a policy of discrimination against their large Russian minority - and without it being denounced as ethnic discrimination by the EU. She represents a furious Russophobia and before that a furious anti-sovietism like the other baltic countries, which were closely allied with Nazi Germany hoping for Soviet defeat. She represents the Estonian bourgeoisi, the very right wing supporting huge armament. For her, like the other EU and Nato leaders, of course, class antagonisms do not exist.

Good article, well written. Europe is now headed now down a dangerous path which presents multiple epochal challenges in the shape of economics, politics, culture and demographics. The tragedy is that Europe lacks any leader(s)with the vision, ideology, conviction and courage to tackle the root causes of these issues.

Only when I got to the forced mention of Pedro Sánchez and the outright lie denying the official status of Spain’s other languages beyond Castilian did I bother to check who the author was. A stalwart of Spanish nationalism, a career politician from the opposition party. Time wretchedly wasted.

All of this is perplexing only if you assume Kallas is a working politician with an actual constituency in Europe, or aiming to build one.

But the fact is, she is simply a flunkie appointed in Washington D.C. and Langley VA, based on hereditrary credentials of low intellect and high willingness to toe an ideological line:

That's all. Its not confusing at all really.

Nor is she the first. Von der Leyen herself is also purely a tool. Not an actual working European politician.
