In the interview below, Denmark’s social democratic Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, explains how she will not accept any 'red lines' Russia may have, why Russia's security interests shall not be taken into account, and why Russia must be defeated no matter what.
Neither she nor her foreign minister, Løkke Rasmussen, has any problems with Danish weapons, including its donated F16s one must assume, being used by Ukraine on Russian territory.
She maintains—never mentioning history, substantial evidence, or arguments—that Putin is the only reason there is a war. She simplifies the NATO narrative to unrecognisability in the real world while promoting groupthink that threatens to lead to the ultimate catastrophe of self-righteousness.
Against all evidence, she sees Russia as starting only in Ukraine to later proceed to take all of Ukraine, Poland, the Baltic Republics, etc. - and then threaten Denmark.
The interviewer, of course, just holds the microphone and broadcasts this anti-intellectual, fundamentalist militarist platitudes without a single critical question.
He must be assumed to be happy when the PM explains that she is transatlantic in her heart, that there must never be any differences between Europe and the US, and why Europe must re-arm much more than it already has.
She has consistently spearheaded the increasing tension and turned down every peace/mediation/negotiation idea.
I have followed Danish security politics for about 50 years.
This PM is unique in combining non-Danish, rampant militarist values with a lack of substantial knowledge about security affairs and an incapacity to listen to others and judge the long-term consequences of her words and policies.
She must be held accountable for a possible future war in Europe, also because of her government’s massive contribution to arming Ukraine and refusing negotiation and mediation initiatives.
With her positioning - and masterminding that Denmark shall host US bases - PM Frederiksen increases the risk that Denmark will be targeted early in a larger war with Russia. She seems more loyal to Washington/NATO than to the best interests of the Danish people.
During the 1980s, I served as an academic member of the then-social democratic government’s Disarmament and Security Political Commission. No one anywhere on Danish soil would have mentioned that Denmark should use its military for anything but self-defence. Denmark’s decision-makers remembered the sufferings of the Second World War. They were prudent, and their highest goal was to avoid war; Denmark was a founding member of NATO and could rely on it since, at the time, it was a defensive alliance acting by its Treaty provisions.
Not so today.
It remains a - sad - enigma to me how my native country and the majority of its politicians and citizens have turned 180 degrees and moved deeply into the very opposite of self-defence, security and peace.
Mette Frederiksen - but of course not only her - will be a very heavy item on the bill the Danish people may have to pay, sooner or later. And remember, even if we miraculously avoid a large war in Europe, militarism is a cancer on any country’s welfare, development and happiness - and with it, the West will decline faster.

In the danish PM's and Denmark's case, both statements together, characterizes the situation.

Denmark is a typical representative for many countries in the western part of the world, "the collective west", yet, even a bit more extreme in that sense. Denmark has a remarkable readyness to agression, and carry the 2nd highest losses of soldiers, only surpassed by US.

Denmark doesn' t understand it's role in history or geopolitics.
It´s repeating a historical mistake for ( at least ) the third time - by engaging with some of the history's strongest - and worst leaders - Napoleon, Hitler and now US/Ukraine-PM's - all three times the same idea to dictate/dominnate an impose/force "rule-based order" at Russia ( and the rest of Asia and other continents ).
This is the total lack of connection with reality, which roams in the empty shell of the danish PM and what she represents. She certainly doesn' t represent all the danish people, and she doesn' t respecyt those who oppose her. By supporting the US-dominance, investigated by it´s own congress, which documented 251 millitary operations all over the world between 1991-2022, she's not only responsible for Denmark and its people, but is also complicit in the crimes against humanity, warcrimes etc, commited by US/Nato.

To me, that tells all - it´s criminal, unethical og unacceptable, and the only consequence must be courts like ICJ. Unfortunately neither ICJ or UN works properly anymore.

That leaves mankind in a very difficult situation. It may be nessecary and decisive to take deeply personal responsibility, ethically and active, acting accordingly, since there are no representation by any official authority whatsoever, working properly anymore.

She is willfully ignorant of history.
She is oblivious of the fact, that if going to war with a country 1000 times bigger and stronger,Denmark risks being eradicated... neither does she act as the PM of a sovereign country, but as a vassal ... or colony.
