The Danish government's paranoid worldview and mindless militarism could cost each family about US $ 8,000 per year and only bring the country closer to war!
It only serves the interests of the US, NATO and the arms industry, not in any way the future of Danes and Denmark - and not peace. Thus, it can be characterised as treason in peacetime.

I wrote the short text below on my Facebook profile on 31 January 2025. Unusually - because FB has censored me down to virtually nothing since 2017 after my reports from Syria - in two days, it has given rise to 230 angry reactions, 33 angry comments and no less than 230 shares. And 135 Danes have wanted to become FB friends with me - which, unfortunately, they can't all be because I'm near FB's ridiculous 5000- friend limit.
But this is interesting. I think it's starting to smoulder under this government and its fateful militarism, completely counterproductive security policy - especially regarding the NATO-Russia conflict over Ukraine - and the completely dilettantish-submissive reaction to Trump's threats and demands regarding Greenland that violate international law. There's not much left of what you might call diplomacy.
Of course, these things are not just a matter of individuals and personal psychology, but that dimension is also part of the deep crisis - as I have pointed out here in my analysis of the Prime Minister's saviour complex (which no one in the Danish media has addressed, of course).
The Foreign Minister and Defence Minister suffer from the same anti-intellectualism, lack of consequence analysis and fundamentalist faith weapons as the solution to all problems - and that the people can be charged the price for these systematic autopilot stupidities.
Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has the audacity to inform the people in advance on LinkedIn that more than the DKK 300 billion he has previously thrown around without argumentation or documentation will probably have to be allocated. In the zeitgeist of kakistocracy, it is enough to populistly say that ‘we have entered a new era’ and that he ‘doubts’ that the DKK 300 billion will be enough.
Instead of providing a proper, multi-faceted and fact-based threat analysis, the government's top representatives are now pushing for military spending to be a percentage of GDP. This target falls on its own folly - here's why.
And how much would that amount to?
BT - whose article I based my comments on - writes: ‘If the defence budget is raised to three per cent of GDP, as proposed by Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, it could cost an ordinary working family an extra DKK 19,000 a year, according to an analysis. - If it's five per cent instead, the amount could grow to as much as DKK 57,000 a year."
Danmarks Radio quotes the Cepos think tank: ‘Last week, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that NATO countries may have to raise defence spending to 3.7 per cent of GDP. According to a calculation from the right-wing think tank Cepos, it will cost Denmark DKK 52 billion annually in extra expenses to meet this requirement. An amount that, according to the think tank, is roughly equivalent to what it costs to run all the country's primary schools or, for example, elderly care in the municipalities." (My italics).
If Danes aren't that interested in the madness of foreign and security policy, I think these figures will interest them: So much money per Danish family due solely to the total delusion of the prime minister and other ministers that Putin would/will take all of Ukraine and then move on.
There is no one - no one - with both independence and knowledge who today supports this sort of irrational non-analysis of the world. You can read my own position with argumentation here. I have lived for 74 years, and almost every year I have had to listen to ‘the Russians coming.’ But Russian troops have been fighting for almost 3 years for control of about 20% of Ukraine's territory!
What on earth does the scenario look like that tells us realistically and credibly how Russia moves on from the present situation in Ukraine to take all of Ukraine, then Poland, the Baltic republics, Sweden, Finland, all or half of Sweden (Skåne or Gotland say the military programmed experts of the highest rank and lowest intellect in Stockholm) to then elegantly occupy all of Denmark in a lightning action. And maybe take other countries. And - what is never mentioned - then control, administer, govern and secure the welfare in all of its new possessions.
Tell us how you think that’s going to happen! And if you can't, then all you claim is the (self-)deceptive politics of fear that will land Denmark either in a war hell or in the deepest economic crisis since 1945 because of militarising Denmark to death.
And all because three ministers, an incompetent intelligence service, and a number of state-paid researchers and virtually all MPs and media leaders - less than 500 Danes - have militarism on the brain, suffer from we-only-know-groupthink and are unable to keep their heads even a little bit cold.
And don't even dare to ask: What are we really up to and where could this end in the best and worst case scenario?
This is the most insecurity-creating and war-promoting policy and there is virtually no debate about it. The people will be informed when it suits “us” (and will never be given explanations, arguments or evidence for the madness that will be decided).
2025 marks the 11th hour.
Now the Danes must ask questions, and they must rise up if this policy continues down the abyss and in the usual authoritarian way. Journalists no longer exist in this area, only microphone holders and stenographers - and therefore, the people themselves must take action.
Whoever sleeps in a democracy risks waking up in a dictatorship, said a wise German writer many years ago. The dictatorship of our age will be that of militarism - of war.
Get rid of a government that has no regard for the welfare of the Danes - but only serves the US, NATO and MIMAK - the Military-Industrial-Media-Academic Complex.
Because that should be labelled treason in peacetime and cannot be reconciled with any form of democracy.
Now my comment on Facebook - where you can follow the further debate:
•
Prime Minister Frederiksen will now steal an even bigger share of taxpayers' money based on a 110% empty and hysterical claim: that Russia will continue with other countries after taking Ukraine.
Journalists don't even bother to ask: Where did you get that from, Mrs Prime Minister?
The Prime Minister's fantasies will destroy Denmark's future. Nothing less. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Danes must rise up and demand that she seeks out expertise - both in terms of her paranoid worldview and her abysmal ignorance of the basics of security policy - namely how to produce a proper threat analysis.
That said, as I have said and written for years, tying military spending to a country's economic boom or bust is absurd, anti-intellectual and more than usually idiotic. They should be determined solely by a threat analysis.
Danes are snoring - thanks to mainstream media and escapism into sports, glitter shows and other entertainment.
Wake up before your life and the lives of several future generations are destroyed and we might have a major war in Europe. If we do, the Danish government will be among the most guilty of it, but by then it will be too late to apportion blame and responsibility.
Russia did not "invade Ukraine" to take it over but to stop the Banderite interference within Ukraine over all the Russian-speaking regions which in the constitution had some rights, removed by the incoming Nuland-endorsed régime . Russia refused for 8 years the requests to take Donesk and Lugansk into Russia, but wanted them to remain in a democratised Ukraine!!
Very precise and sharp comment. I fully agree.
But Russia, in addition to Ukraine, of course also has a legitimate interest in a neutral Eastern Europe through which it is not threatened by Nato.
